Our Story/Info

The Italian-speaking group of San Luis Obispo has been active for about twenty years. It was started by Domenico Maceri, Italian professor at Allan Hancock College, to give students an opportunity to practice their language skills in an informal setting. Initially, meeting were held once a month but after a few years they were expanded to twice a month. Since the pandemic we suspended face-to-face meetings and have been meeting via Zoom. This has enabled us to have participants from other parts of the US as well as Italy, and the numbers have increased. The frequency with Zoom has also increased to weekly and sometimes even twice a week. In the last few months we have also restarted the face-to-face meetings a few times a month. Fluency levels include high beginners, intermediate, near-natives, as well as native speakers. For more information, contact Domenico (dmaceri at hotmail.com ).

We have weekly meetings on Zoom for Italian and Spanish. We also have Italian and French meetings face-to-face in the San Luis Obispo area. See weekly schedule below for details.
